Multicopter with Infrared PI 450 Optris Camera

Thermocopter PI 450 is a hexacopter, which provides the user with a longer flight time from 20 to 25 minutes. Optris PI 450 thermal imaging camera is integrated with a Mini PC on the UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) . This lightweight kit of just 415 grams provides for a relatively long flight time. The resolution of the IR camera is 382 x 288 pixels. A highlight is the thermal sensitivity of 40 mk. There are three lenses to choose from. Wide-angle lenses of 62°, standard - of 38° and tele-photo lenses of 13°. The recording is performed on a microSD card. When a flying robot is deployed a live stream is sent to the ground video station. The pilot starts the recording of a radiometric stream on the radio control. This radiometric stream is recorded at up to 30 Hz. The hexacopter can be folded and easily transported in any standard vehicle. Thermocopter PI 450 is a development by the user for the user. We are happy to advise and provide you with a quote tailored to your needs. More information and technical details on Optris PI 450 thermal imaging camera may be obtained here. This is also available with us as a lightweight kit.

Instructions on the Flight System and Software

When you purchase a system, you will receive comprehensive instructions on the flight system, including planning software for the flight to the route points. Furthermore, the Instructions on the evaluation software include guidance for taking infrared images.

The flight system can be programmed with the flight route in advance and retrieved on site. Upon activation, the flying robot flies the route automatically. The Multicopter system is applied for the inspection of PV systems, building thermography and wind turbines. We recommend to perform the identification of faults on the photovoltaic systems on the basis of higher resolutions, 640 x 480 pixels, Optris PI 640, FLIR T 620 or FLIR T 660.

Evaluation with Optris Software

In the following video, the software is presented with a radiometric stream. The user can see the flight over the photovoltaic modules. The temperature is shown when the mouse moves over certain pixels. The evaluation software is very diverse and offers the user customized adaptability. The radiometric video allows for fast and easy regeneration of certain pictures by one click.

"Thermocopter PI 640" multicopter for infrared measurement

Thermography from the air

Thermographic imaging is a simple and critical method of inspection for industrial and construction companies. As a UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle), the "Thermocopter PI 640" multicopter is outstanding for the most diverse thermographic applications.  Examples of aerial thermographic imaging include inspection of solar energy systems or in building thermographs. In this case, drones play a very strong role. Quickly and reliably, they detect thermal anomalies such as hotspots, substrings, connection outlets, broken glass, and complete modules up to entire strings. Further areas of application for the Thermocopter PI 640 may be found in construction, industrial settings, and inspection of high-voltage facilities. Applications are conceivable everywhere, where temperature differences indicate irregularities.

This flying robot has been developed and configured especially for application as a source of thermographic images. The integrated optris PI 640 infrared camera has a resolution 640 x 480 pixels and records a radiometric stream of 24 Hz with our miniPC (in the video, each pixel indicates a temperature).  This provides the user sharply focused recordings, which is an advantage during evaluation. This combination of the optris PI 640 and the miniPC is available here exclusively. Alternatively, we also offer configurations with other heat imaging systems depending on application and customer needs, for example the optris PI 450 or and infrared camera from Flir's 600 series. More information about these infrared cameras is available in the categories listed. We build individual multicopter systems according to customer needs. If you would like to purchase a drone including a heat imaging camera, the we would be please to provide you a personalised offer.

Upon purchase of a flight system, you will also receive instruction on how to handle the device, a flight course, and instruction in the optris software. The infrared images displayed on this page were produced during inspection of a solar park and display diverse thermally conspicuous solar modules. The infrared images were generated using software from optris.

Alternatively, heat imaging cameras for drones include the optris PI 450 (382 x 288 pixels), the FLIR T620, or the FLIR T660 (640 x 480 pixels). The IR cameras from FLIR also make it possible for the multicopters to remain below a launch weight of 5 kg with flight times of up to 15 minutes.

Drones with High Definition Infrared Camera

Thermografie Drohne Thermocopter PI640 ARF

New multicopter called "Thermocopter PI 640" is equipped with a high-resolution infrared camera, which is capable of recording a radiometric stream at 640x480 pixels and 24 Hz. The octocopter comes into use as an airborne measuring instrument, for example, in the inspection of PV systems or diagnostic survey of power generation facilities. A special highlight: the drone with the thermal imaging camera weighs less than five kilograms. Thus, general permission will be sufficient for the user of the UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) (valid for Germany). This flight system currently equipped with the up-to-date Mini PC is only available with us.
